Safe in His love

Fame isn't good for the human brain, especially the kind of fame that allows thousands of people to voice their opinions about you on social media. There are many recent examples of people who have received an absolutely outrageous response to something fairly benign that they did or said. In order to not completely fall apart in response to the vile criticisms and accusations, the famous often grow thick skins. "If people are going to assume the worst in me, then I'm just not going to care what they think at all!" Tragically, they start engaging in more and more destructive behaviors. And no one can get through to them. Jesus can save us from this tragic spiral. We don't have to pretend that we always make perfect choices, because He makes perfect choices. We don't have to justify our behavior because He has already justified us by paying for our sins. And then, safe in His love, now that we don't have to be perfect, we can be good. 

A beautiful day

We make so many connections here on earth. Look at us—I've just met you, but I'm investing in who you are and who you will be, and I can't help it."" When I was a kid, I thought Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood was kind of a boring show. But my kids have been watching it a lot lately thanks to DVDs from the library, and it's been growing on me. He wasn't perfect, but he worked hard every day at controlling his temper and choosing kindness. And because of his good choices, our world is a little bit better. ...
